In the tradition of art-world documentaries like Stop Making Sense, Paris is Burning, Crumb and American Movie, Art Dealers follows eccentric rock-n-roll performance artist Adam Weiner aka Low Cut Connie, and his band and crew as they attempt to mount a concert production of their recently released album "Art Dealers" for a three-night run in Covid-era New York City. The stunning high-intensity performances are laid against a backdrop of five years of footage that shows an artist plagued by bad luck, but who attacks each performance with humor and stagecraft. Low Cut Connie, the band and crew's unglamorous day-to-day circumstances are shown in contrast to the undeniable magic of the stage show. The film attempts to entertain and inspire while also making a broader statement about the difficult landscape of art and entertainment in modern America. With its honesty, humor and passion, Art Dealers is the best rock-n-roll film to come along in years.
