Bethany Larson & The Bee's Knees return with Love and Lust and Settled Dust, their first release since 2011's When We Reach The City. The band features Bethany alongside her brother Chris Larson (guitar, keys, vocals), Alicia Kay (bass, vocals), and Sara Horishnyk (drums).
Built on soaring three-part harmonies and twang-inflected songwriting — Emmylou Harris by way of Brandi Carlile — it's a hard-won collection about survival and strength. Produced by Eric Martin and Adam Levy, this is country rock with grit and heart.

Bethany Larson & The Bee’s Knees
Bethany Larson was born with music in her veins. She grew up singing in her family's church in Austin, Minnesota, where old-time melodies and close harmony shaped the ear that would come to define her songwriting. In 2011 she assembled a band and released When We Reach The City to glowing reviews, earning stages at beloved local haunts — The Dakota, Turf Club, Varsity Theater, and the Cedar Cultural Center among them. Then came a harder chapter. Bethany faced down the long shadow of childhood trauma and a struggle with addiction that nearly took her life — and she came through it, sober and ready to write again. Today she's a vocal advocate for survivors of abuse, for women's rights, and for anyone still finding their way out of the dark.
Now Bethany fronts The Bee's Knees: her brother Chris Larson on guitar, keys, and vocals; Alicia Kay on bass and vocals; and Sara Horishnyk on drums. With three voices at its heart, the band has leaned into harmony — Bethany's twang-inflected country rock landing somewhere in the lineage of Emmylou Harris and Brandi Carlile.

Turn Turn Turn is a band that bonded over their mutual love of close harmony ‘60s and ‘70s country, folk, and pop music and formed an original Americana band. To create their distinctive sound, the band “turns” to the distant past of early American recorded music, “turns” again to that renaissance of the 1960s and 1970s, and finally “turns” again to the present looking forward.
Members Adam Levy (guitar, vocals) and Barb Brynstad (bass, vocals) are mainstays of the Minnesota music scene and together craft an infectious, pop-infused Americana. Even though Turn Turn Turn was born as a cover band, the group's original material — sweetheart alt-country folk-pop — quickly stole the spotlight. Their Laurel Canyon meets ‘70s-Nashville-cosmic soul vibe is layered with harmonies that stitch the band’s musical tapestry together.
The Twins of Franklin are a folk-rock band from Minneapolis, fronted by Becky Shaheen and Laura Lou DuSchane, two Minneapolis musicians who fell in love belting show tunes and classical arias together in a dorm room back in 2009. Over the past fifteen years, they have evolved into professional musicians, releasing multiple albums — both together and solo — and performing hundreds of shows as a dynamic duo. They have been enjoying the fruits of their labors following the successful release of their sophomore album This Life.
This Life has received an overwhelmingly positive response since its release in May 2024. The album promises "a sonic journey unlike any other," as described by Tom Smouse from Music in Minnesota. He noted that it “blends introspective ballads with vibrant, soul-stirring melodies, featuring big, fun rock and roll songs that bookend the album. The overall experience is a cohesive indulgence of harmonies that will captivate listeners, serving as a testament to friendship, creativity, and the enduring power of music that has bonded the band together.” Local legend Youa Vang put it eloquently for MSP magazine when she said, "on their latest album, This Life, they come out swinging on their own terms with dense, intentional authenticity that is driven by emotional maturity."
