The iconic holiday classic brought to life! Gather together your friends and family for this not-to-be-missed performance of Vince Guaraldi’s seasonal score, A Charlie Brown Christmas, performed by the Blue Ox Jazz Trio led by acclaimed Twin Cities musician and composer Jack Schabert.

Considered one of the greatest holiday albums of all time, Vince Guaraldi’s A Charlie Brown Christmas was originally released in 1965 to coincide with the debut of the much-beloved animated television special, and includes timeless compositions like “Christmas Time Is Here,” “Linus and Lucy,” “Skating,” and more.

A Charlie Brown Christmas is the Emmy and Peabody award-winning story written by St. Paul’s own Charles M. Schulz. This classic has warmed the hearts of millions of fans since it first aired on television over sixty years ago. The Christmas special marked the first time Schulz’s classic characters made the jump from the newspaper page to animation. Moreover, the soundtrack being provided by a jazz trio rather than full orchestra, originally a budget-conscious decision, proved to be an inspired choice. Since its debut, Guaraldi’s songs have become as important to the show’s enduring success as the characters themselves.

Jack Schabert is a Twin Cities and Denver, CO based musician, composer, and educator. He has recently received composition awards from the University of Denver, Ithaca College, and the New York Youth Symphonies. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from St. Olaf College and is currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in Jazz Composition at the University of Denver.

Jack leads several professional jazz ensembles in the Twin Cities, and has performed over three hundred shows over the last few years. His compositions for Jazz Orchestra have been performed by high school, college, and professional big bands in Minnesota. He is a member of the Twin Cities Jazz Composer’s Workshop, and is currently serving a term on the Board of Directors of the MetroNOME Foundation as well as the Twin Cities Jazz Festival. He books and arranges youth jazz performances for MetroNOME Brewery’s Next Generation Jazz Series, and directs the MetroNOME Honors Youth Jazz Orchestra. He has recently been commissioned to write new music for Saint Paul Central High school, Roseville High School, the Minnesota Youth Jazz Bands, and the New York Youth Symphony.

Jack has performed with international jazz artists including Melissa Aldana, Danilo Perez (Wayne Shorter Quartet), Doreen Ketchens, Kenni Holmen (Prince, Vulfpeck), and 9-time Grammy Award-winning trumpeter Wynton Marsalis.
