Launch and celebration of Twin Cities solutions stories featuring the stories and voices of changemakers from across Minnesota.

Join us for the launch of Drawdown's Neighborhood: Twin Cities, an episodic climate solutions short documentary series about passing the mic to change makers who often go unheard.
We will introduce you to the nine local changemakers features in the series,
giving you a window into how you—and everyday people from diverse backgrounds in Minneapolis, St. Paul, and beyond—can be part of solutions.
Get a sneak peek at these episodes before they premiere globally, and celebrate how the Twin Cities is helping the world reach drawdown—the point in time when greenhouse gasses start to steadily decline.

Hosted by Project Drawdown’s Matt Scott and featuring the stories and voices of changemakers from Appetite for Change, Change Narrative, Hourcar Evie, Minnesota Interfaith Power & Light, Minnesota Waste Wise, Native Sun & Solar Bear, Repowered, Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity ReStore, and UNIDOS MN.

To create the future we want, diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice are paramount, both in the Twin Cities and in the climate world overall.

Still, far too often, people who want to help are left out of the solution; often, these are people most vulnerable to the impacts of the climate crisis (including Black communities, communities of color, and other underrepresented groups) while also being well-equipped with perspective and power to bring the change the life. Here in the Twin Cities, it’s time that we "pass the mic" to those who often go unheard and showcase these unsung heroes, everyday people—including those who've often been underestimated—who have what it takes to contribute to solutions.

Matt Scott is Director of Storytelling & Engagement at the nonprofit climate solutions resource Project Drawdown and leads the Drawdown Stories program, serving as a bridge between everyday people and climate solutions. His work focuses on “passing the mic” to underrepresented, underestimated changemakers. He is the host of Drawdown’s Neighborhood, a climate solutions short documentary series inviting communities to discover solutions and take action. Matt joined Project Drawdown in 2020, following five years creating impact storytelling and engagement initiatives and campaigns alongside partners including Nike, USAID, Pivotal Ventures by Melinda Gates, the Australian Government, and the Obama White House. From 2016 to 2020, he helped engage more than 100,000 people from 150+ countries in the world’s largest global hackathon, NASA’s International Space Apps Challenge, serving as the global community lead and storyteller. In addition, Matt is the founder of Let’s Care, where he’s released the film 20s & Change: San Francisco – honored at the San Francisco Black Film Festival and Las Vegas Queer Arts Film Festival, as well as Costa Rica's EQUAL Film Fest.He has interviewed 100+ changemakers to-date.

Founded in 2014, Project Drawdown is a nonprofit organization that seeks to help the world reach “drawdown”—the future point in time when levels of greenhouse gasses in the atmosphere stop climbing and start to steadily decline.

Since the 2017 publication of the New York Times bestseller Drawdown, the organization has emerged as a leading resource for information and insight about climate solutions. We continue to develop that resource by conducting rigorous review and assessment of climate solutions, creating compelling and human communication across media, and partnering with efforts to accelerate climate solutions globally.

The Great Northern celebrates our cold, creative winters through ten days of diverse programming that invigorate mind and body. In an era of changing climate that threatens our signature season, we seek to create community, inspire action, and share the resilient spirit of the North with the world.
