This is ground control to MAJOR FUN!

Join Intoxicats as they lift off for their third annual Holiday Get Together

C’mon and be part of their weirdo-surfy-funky-planet,

along with their pals DJ Jake Rudh and The Swongos

as they blast off for the North Pole or some other over-use of the space metaphor.

As usual, they’ll be including just enough holiday cheer

to make it seem like you did a holiday thing.

There’s going to be prizes, and probably egg nog.

Originating from Tropical Islands and Frozen Tundra, INTOXICATS were born of a fevered haze one steamy summer night on an island in the middle of the Pacific. Picture Gilligan’s Island with access to MTV, Get Smart, Hawaii 5-0, and I Dream Of Jeannie re-runs. Throw in a few too many bongos, and you get the picture. GrooveXotica at its finest.

The Swongos are a three-piece instrumental Surf band from the St. Croix River Valley on the Minnesota/Wisconsin border. Their music goes from soft, sweet, and dreamy to wacky, wild, and psychedelic. In addition to Surf music, they have many styles of music such as Spy, Exotica, and Psychedelic Rock sprinkled in their sound. The Swongos are influenced by traditional surf music like Dick Dale and the Ventures but also groups such as the Pixies, Frank Zappa, and Los Cubanos Postizos.

Kicking off the night is DJ Jake Rudh, both a Minneapolis club and radio DJ hosting "Transmission" the program heard on 89.3 The Current every Thursday night at 10 pm. Jake's worked in music for over 30 years including Capitol Records, NPR and Twin Cities alternative favorites REV 105 and Radio K. Having been voted "best club DJ" in the Twin Cities for ten straight years by the readers of City Pages magazine, he brings the varied mix of the club nights to the airwaves each week with a different theme to his show.
