Kith + Kin Chorus is a 55-person uncommon choir led by Rachel Ries and open to singers of all skill levels. This show celebrates the close of K + K's 2nd season and proceeds go to Open Arms of Minnesota, a nonprofit that cooks and delivers free, nutritious meals to people living with life-threatening illnesses in the Twin Cities. K + K's repertoire includes Queen, Sia, The Cranberries, Feist and anything else Rachel feels compelled to arrange for the group.
Rachel is also the front person of Her Crooked Heart, purveyors of sly, big-hearted balladry. HCH's debut album, To Love To Leave To Live, is due out in 2019 and features the sonic wizardry of Shane Leonard, Brian Joseph, Mike Lewis, Pat Keen and the string arrangements of Rob Moose. Rachel's previous work has been featured on NPR's Weekend Edition, lauded in Uncut and No Depression, and she is a 2018 Rauschenberg 3Arts Fellow.
Founded in 1986, Open Arms believes that food is medicine and that our work matters to the health outcomes of neighbors facing a health crisis. With the help of over 7,300 volunteers, we’ll grow, cook and deliver more than 600,000 medically tailored, made-from-scratch meals this year to people living with life-threatening illnesses. Open Arms serves nearly 1,100 people each week in the Twin Cities, as well as their caregivers and dependent children.
Voices are the original instrument. Singing is an extraordinary unifier. Let's fill this hurting world with harmony.
