The Last Wintercount lays bare The Indian System and The Doctrine of Discovery, and unmasks the Domination Code.
The film will be followed by a closing plenary to create a framework of understanding for non-Native people by one of the producers, Bill Konrardy. The plenary will include Sheldon P. Wolfchild of 38 plus 2 Productions; his wife Della Romero, from Durango, Colorado; and Thomas Smith and Timothy LaBatte, 2 locals in the plaintiff class of the Dakota lineal decedents in a lawsuit against the federal government to get compensation for 500 miles of land along Lake Pepin that was stolen from their ancestors. There will be an opportunity to ask questions of the panelists.
This event is cosponsored by 38 Plus 2 Productions and Twin Cities Nonviolent. This film is third in a series of films produced by 38 Plus 2 documenting the violent treatment of Dakota peoples.
