Melody Melody Melody!
Featuring Billy McLaughlin, Michael Monroe, and John McAndrew!
Billy McLaughlin is recognized internationally as a world-class guitarist, Emmy-winning composer, and inspirational performer who has appeared on Billboard’s Top Ten Chart. Previously signed to Virgin Records’ Narada label, McLaughlin has 14 CD releases, 3 National Campus Entertainer of the Year Awards, 5 Minnesota Music Awards, and his decades of national concert touring earned him the Hall of Fame Achievement Award.
But in 1999 McLaughlin vanished from sight as his career crumbled due to a little-known neuro-muscular disorder called Focal Dystonia. After suffering several years without a cure, he embarked on an unlikely attempt to regain his career by re-learning his instrument left-handed. His remarkable comeback is captured in the documentary film “Changing Keys” (TPT-PBS), and a concert film called “Coming Back Alive,” featuring McLaughlin with string orchestra and a reunion of his longtime rock band.
Now serving as Ambassador for Awareness for the Dystonia Medical Research Foundation, McLaughlin is the winner of the 2010 Public Leadership in Neurology Award, whose previous winners include Paul Allen, Julie Andrews, Leon Fleischer, and Michael J. Fox.
McLaughlin has resumed an international schedule of concert appearances and keynote speaking. He resides in his home state of Minnesota where he is proudly raising two boys.
Michael Monroe, “MN Acoustic Music Master,” (Star Tribune) performs original music on vocals, crystal/bamboo flutes and plays Seaton Guitars from the Gunflint Trail, hand-crafted with 200 year-old wood from the bottom of Lake Superior.
Monroe’s award winning instrumental soundtracks have been featured on PBS/CBC, Toronto Enviro/New York Indie Film Fests in "Chased By The Light", as well as receiving an Emmy for “Soaring On Mended Wings.”
Monroe returned to the Twin Cities following 28 years on the North Shore of Lake Superior near Grand Marais 11 of which were “off the grid” where he recorded his first 12 albums using solar power He presented Log Cabin Concerts in his cabin for 800 people a year for 17 years which were featured on KSTP’s Jason Davis’ OnTheRoad, in Lake Superior and Cabin Life Magazines.
“With heartfelt sincerity and a poetic touch in both the lyrics and music, Monroe explores subtle, quiet places that spark the imagination.” — Wintersong CD Review: CITY PAGES
John McAndrew’s music has been heard around the world, at many National Events, and in several feature films, including "One Little Red Wagon” directed by David Anspaugh.
John’s last two albums “Forgiven” and “Souls” on WBA Records, have been in Grammy consideration in the Roots Gospel, and Americana categories. John is currently recording a new project in LA with famed drummer/producer Denny Seiwell (who formed Wings with Paul McCartney) and multi-instrumentalist/producer, Fernando Perdomo (who’s best known as one of the featured guitarists in the documentary “Echo’s in the Canyon,” backing Nora Jones, Jakob Dylan, Eric Clapton and others.)
“Thanks for a wonderful evening of music and inspiration John. You have an enviable talent for connecting soulfully and meaningfully with your audience.” — Eric Clapton, Crossroads Centre Antigua
"John McAndrew reminds me of the early days of Billy Joel, when people sat at the piano bar, putting bread into his jar, saying, "man, what are you doin' here?!"-He is simply great at the piano, and has a voice that can light you up.” — Billy Powell, keyboard player, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Inductee
