Powerhouse vocalist PaviElle and her band present an intimate evening of soul and jazz to usher in the New Year.

"People say that one person can't change the world and I just don't believe that, because we've seen it time and time before. And so when you are yourself, it is revolutionary." - PaviElle

PaviElle is an acclaimed interdisciplinary artist and Emmy Award and Sage Award winner. She is known for her powerhouse vocals and performing with her equally powerful six-piece band. In 2015, PaviElle was voted "Best R&B Vocalist" (City Pages), her band was named one of First Avenue's Best New Bands, and she was a featured artist on TPT's "Lowertown Line." In 2019, she was featured in an extensive profile on TPT's "MN Original." In addition to composing and performing, she works as a voice-over artist and is an award-winning actress.

Most recently, PaviElle won an American Composers Forum Grant funded by the Jerome Foundation for her classical composition, A Requiem for Zula (2019), written in celebration of her mother. In collaboration with the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra, A Requiem for Zula had its worldwide premiere at The Ordway in February 2019 as part of the Tapestry '19 Festival. Also this year, she had the honor of serving as a special guest opener for Rev. Sekou and the Freedom Fighters.

PaviElle hails from Rondo, a historically Black neighborhood in St. Paul, Minnesota. She honed her craft as a teenager at the Penumbra Theatre and the SteppingStone Theater, and with the Hip Hop soul collective, EduPoetic Entertainment.

Growing up in a family steeped in music, she says that she wants to make music that honors and represents the Black aesthetic. As a songwriter, PaviElle always has a way she wants her songs to “swing,” and it’s this free-style emotion, in the scatting and vocalizing, that brings a millennial’s heart-born, contemporary vision to a classic soul music sound.
