Minneapolis garage/powerpop legends The Silverteens celebrate their new EP, TV On Fire, along with sets by singer-songwriter Faith Boblett and glam pop band d’Lakes. A not-to-be-missed night of Minnesota rock!

Minneapolis-based garage/powerpop legends The Silverteens celebrate the release of their new four-song EP, TV On Fire! With their third release since November 2023, the Silverteens firmly establish their own unique sound — still rooted in garage and power pop — but reflecting a modern aesthetic, emphasizing strong harmonies that remain grounded by crunching/searing guitars and a hard-driving rhythm section. Long known for their eclectic mix of cover songs — ranging from obscure ’60s garage rock to late ’70s punk and power pop — the ‘Teens began focusing on original material in 2022. They released their self-titled LP in November 2023 and, in January 2024, a live EP — recorded at the Parkway Theater — paying tribute to the Plimsouls, one of their key influences.

Band members have been mainstays since the origins of the Minneapolis alternative music scene in the late 1970s and early 1980s.

Guitarist Terry Isachsen also performs with the Flamin’ Oh’s, Lolo’s Ghost, and many others. Isachsen’s band Nip and Tuck gigged regularly in the 1970s at Minneapolis’ legendary Punk/New Wave nightclub, Jay’s Longhorn.

Bassist and backing vocalist Steve Olson was a member of 1980s Laughing Stock, a post-punk band that often played at Minneapolis’ 7th St. Entry and First Avenue. Olson also is a member of the Minneapolis band Hot Pastrami!

Drummer and backing vocalist Jerry Johnson played bass and drums in several Minneapolis bands in the 1980s through the 2000s, including Mezzo Fist, No Apparent Reason, Pushpause, Splat, Helen Killer, and Evaporated Family.

Vocalist Mark Engebretson performed with the MORs at Jay’s Longhorn in the late 1970s. He was vocalist for the Whole Lotta Loves, which released an EP in 1985 and contributed one song to Twin/Tone’s 1986 Big Hits of Mid-America Volume IV. Engebretson was the director of the 2019 documentary film, “Jay’s Longhorn.”

Faith Boblett is a Minneapolis-based singer-songwriter with roots in northern Minnesota, and was named one of 2018’s Best New Bands by First Avenue. She began writing her own music at age 13, shortly after teaching herself to play the guitar. Though Faith was raised in a musical household, she has been persistent in finding her own voice through songwriting and performing. Her goal? Timeless songs. Boblett brings her own brand of pop, Americana, rock, and alt-country (aka she’s “Minnesota’s grungy Sheryl Crow” -Jordan Alamat).

In October of 2020, Faith’s third LP, take care, was released. take care showcases Boblett’s authenticity and depth through her songwriting. She is an artist to watch with an album you need to hear. More on Faith’s Bandcamp page. In addition to writing and performing her own music, Faith is also a part of the larger Minneapolis music scene. She has performed in shows paying tribute to Dolly Parton, Tom Petty, The Replacements, XTC, and Shania Twain.

Following the celebration of their sophomore album (Heaven Is A Silent Disco, 2023) and subsequent second Halloween EP (Hell Is A Blaring Library, 2024), Minneapolis’ indie glam pop band, d’Lakes, is wanting to take their sound in a slightly different direction. So they’re crafting their freak show a step further into the absurd and sensual in a way that provokes a renewed sense of wonderment for both the band and audience, while their inherent drive to bring the party has only amplified.

Before releasing their debut album (Unforgettable Cheer, 2021), d’Lakes had already won the Minnesota Music Coalition’s 2020 Demo Contest, received Prince’s tambourine as a “gift of excellence,” and released a complicated Halloween EP full of retconned versions of their glam pop tunes (Unforgettable Fear, 2020)! Following the release of their debut album, it wasn’t long before d’Lakes played many of the local festivals (Big Turn Music Fest, Lowertown Sounds, Pride, MMC’s Caravan du Nord, Falling Knife, etc) and received a nomination for album of the year by the Loring Collective. This momentum inspired the group’s work on their sophomore effort, Heaven Is A Silent Disco (2023). The album was warmly received and was picked up by The Current, MPR, national publications, and music subreddits, which has only pushed them to dream bigger for their upcoming releases! d’Lakes is excited to be releasing their new Crash Boom EP and finish working on their third album in the remaining months of 2026!
