Ska, rocksteady, reggae....it all began with the legendary Ska-Talites! Don't miss this night of original Jamaican ska when The Skatalites bring their ‘Diamond Jubilee’ Tour to The Parkway!

Doors open at 7 pm with a set by DJ General Moses, spinning classic Jamaican 45s. Minneapolis ska band The Prizefighters take the stage at 8 pm, followed by The Skatalites!

2024 rings in the 60th Anniversary of THE SKATALITES, whose influence in the world of ska, reggae, and pop music is unparalleled!!

The original members played on hundreds of recording sessions before forming the band in 1964. Backing most of the vocalists in Jamaica at that time, including Bob Marley, Toots and The Maytals, Jimmy Cliff, Alton Ellis, Ken Boothe, and many more, The Skatalites secured their place in history early on — pioneering an icon sound that evolved from ska to rocksteady to reggae.

In the late ‘70s, a resurgence of interest in the music began in the U.K., which caused the creation of many bands such as The Specials, The English Beat, Madness, The Selecter, and Bad Manners. This became known as the "Two-Tone era," and these British musicians fused rock music with ska and reggae. In The early ‘80s, the music started to spread to the US and other parts of the world. Bands began to emerge all over the globe, playing different flavors of ska and reggae fused with whatever else they wanted to throw in, including hardcore, jazz, and even punk. Today, The Skatalites’ influence can be heard in bands from The Clash to The Police, Sublime to No Doubt.

In 1983, The Skatalites reunited to play Reggae Sunsplash in Montego Bay and subsequently in London at The Crystal Palace for the UK version of the Sunsplash event. A few years later, they began emigrating to the US, and in 1986, the first US shows began at The Village Gate in New York City. The band supported Bunny Wailer on The Liberation Tour in 1989 and followed it up in 1990, embarking on their first-ever headline tour of The U.S.A.

The Skatalites have not stopped touring the world ever since and continue to be available for festivals, casinos, and intimate venue settings. Their uniquely infectious brand of real, authentic Jamaican ska excites audiences of all ages across the globe year after year.

"We hope you will enjoy listening to our music as much as we enjoy performing it for you."

The Prizefighters are back in action with a brand-new LP of the heaviest-hitting ska, rocksteady, and reggae in town! With a critical eye on the future and grooves that echo the Kingston dancehalls of the 1960s, Punch Up cements The Prizefighters as top contenders in the worldwide reggae game.

The Prizefighters have honed their reggae bona fides, having teamed up with heavy hitters of '60s Jamaica, playing as the backing band for artists such as the “King of Ska” Derrick Morgan, legendary duet partners Stranger Cole & Patsy Todd and Roy Panton & Yvonne Harrison, and most notably harmonica player and vocalist Charlie Organaire, whose playing can be heard on hundreds of early Jamaican ska and rocksteady hits. The Prizefighters and Charlie Organaire released a trio of 45 rpm singles on Jump Up! Records, and toured Europe together in support of Charlie Organaire Meets the Prizefighters.

Punch Up is The Prizefighters’ third full length LP released on Jump Up! Records, following 2010’s Follow My Sound and 2019’s Firewalk.
