Get ready for a matinee show unlike any other as the MVO Crewtets, a 16-piece string group, joins forces with four incredible Twin Cities indie artists: Molly Brandt, the Twins of Franklin, Jillian Rae Band, and Mark Mallman! It's an unprecedented mash-up of soaring strings and captivating tunes that promises to be both epic and delightfully unexpected. You've never heard anything quite like this, and you won't want to miss it!
Named 2023 and 2024 Americana Artist of the Year at the Midwest Country Music Awards, Molly Brandt is making waves in the independent music scene. Drawing inspiration from songwriting legends, her songs weave tales of heartache, resilience and triumph, delving into blue-collar struggles, dive bar revelries, long car rides, and cold-blooded revenge. Brandt captivates audiences with her fiery delivery, memorable attire and evocative lyrics as she showcases powerful vocals, compelling storytelling, and unforgettable performances.
The Twins of Franklin are a Folk/Rock band from Minneapolis, fronted by Becky Shaheen and Laura Lou DuSchane. They have been enjoying the fruits of their labors following the successful release of their sophomore album, This Life, in May of 2024.
Jillian Rae is a multifaceted singer, songwriter, and classically trained violinist known for creating authentic, genre-defying music that spans rock, pop, folk, and Americana. Beyond fronting her own critically acclaimed band, she performs with traditional folk group Corpse Reviver and has toured with Grammy-winning acts like The Okee Dokee Brothers. Raised in Minnesota's Iron Range with influences ranging from Jimi Hendrix to Sheryl Crow to traditional Scandinavian music, Rae has established herself as an in-demand producer and session player who runs a St. Paul recording studio with her partner Eric Martin, all while maintaining a twenty-year teaching practice.
For over two decades, Mark Mallman has blurred the line between myth and musician. He’s earned acclaim from NPR, Pitchfork, and a star at First Avenue. His songs have appeared on Rick and Morty, General Hospital, and The Morning Show — and his viral TikToks have made him a beloved music historian for millions of Gen Z fans.
Founded in 1976, Mississippi Valley Orchestra is an excellent civic orchestra that plays incredible music east and west of the Mississippi River in the Minneapolis/St. Paul metro area. During the summer, about 16-22 strings play residencies at local breweries, sporting events, and bars.
