For a week in September 1981, Twin/Tone Records took over this recently started small stage at First Avenue, back before it was legendary, and presented a show that helped launch the legend.
This film has only been shown once before, for Sound Unseen '07, and will likely not be screened again for 20 years, so this a rare chance to see it in full big screen, movie theater glory!
The film captures bands like the Replacements and Hüsker Dü in their beginnings. A rare chance to relive being in the room when it was dirty and dangerous. The film also captures groups like Things That Fall Down and the Hypstrz, bands that never found commercial success but had a massive impact on bands that did. M-80 turned on a lot of bands; this is a document of them raw and jagged.
Iggy Pop said Gimme Danger, and MPLS answered the call.
