Tom Cruise stars as Lt. Pete "Maverick" Mitchell, a daring young fighter pilot who's out to become the best of the best. Kelly McGillis is the civilian instructor who teaches Maverick a few things you can't learn in a classroom. And Maverick and his wing man Goose (Anthony Edwards) teach their arch rivals Ice Man (Val Kilmer) and the other guy with a non-memorable nickname (Rick Rossovich) a thing or two about sweaty beach volleyball.
