Acclaimed Minneapolis orchestral art-pop ensemble We Are The Willows present a special afternoon performance of both old and new works, backdropped by an original video collage by Wisconsin artist Erik Elstran (The Nunnery).

Combining experimental rock music with classical music traditions to create a lush and dynamic sonic experience, the interplay between We Are The Willows’ unique brand of art-rock and Estran’s stream-of-consciousness visuals will leave audiences hopeful and mesmerized.

Special guest Her Crooked Heart opens this beautiful afternoon of music!

Children ages 12 and under can enjoy free admission with a paying adult!

We are the Willows practically explodes on the stereo in an enticing stew of experimental art rock with equally mathy and poppy notions on their new song, “Forgiveness/ Forgetness”—no transmission 2024

“...beautiful and timeless”—paste magazine, 2014

“entrancing loops, expressive vocal stylings, and rushing tides of instrumentation.”—Under The Radar

We Are The Willows is the art-pop project of Minneapolis based singer/songwriter Peter Miller (creatively known as Peter M.). His unique countertenor voice is often supported by Jeremiah Satterthwaite on guitar, Travis Collins on bass and backup vocals, Hilary James on cello and backup vocals, and Josh McCay on drums. Active since 2014 and most notably recognized for their 2016 two-part, twenty-song concept album Picture (Portrait) (based on letters written between his grandparents during World War II), Miller’s outfit has garnered praise from NPR, BBC, Noisey, Paste Magazine, Buzzfeed, and Brooklyn Vegan. Over eight years, We Are The Willows has supported and shared the stage with acts including Blitzen Trapper, S. Carey, Phox, and Matt Pond PA across showcases at SXSW, Treefort Festival, and Milwaukee’s Summer Fest.

Her Crooked Heart is the musical makings of Rachel Ries, often in collaboration with a rotating cast of dreamy humans: Hilary James (bathtub cig), Adelyn Strei, Hannah Hebl (Hemma) and Siri Undlin (Humbird). With the exception of A Wedding EP, a surprise split 7" to celebrate Rachel's wedding this past summer, HCH has been fairly quiet since the pandemic kicked off. Through these weird years, RR has continued writing, scheming new projects, releasing songs for patrons, building a tiny house, gardening, auntie-ing, and being anything but quiet as the founding director of Kith + Kin Chorus, the rock & roll choir she launched in 2017.
