NYC-based theatre collective Compagnia de' Colombari's film screening meets live performance event, Whitman on Walls! (WoW!) comes to Minneapolis in collaboration with Minnesota Poets Collective, John Munson, and Steve Sutherland, sponsored by Calamus Project. A live music trio led by Dean Magraw (guitar), with Liz Draper (upright bass) and Suwal Singh (Tabla), will accompany the MN poets: Ashley Gray, Mishal Mazin, Suheb Rumi, Timothy Frantzich, Allen Wilcox, Erik Riese, and Christian Worby.
Colombari created a series of seven short films featuring 50 actors performing Whitman's "Song of Myself." This community-galvanizing project uses the films as prompts for local artists to respond to the themes with their own insights and expressions, reflecting America today.
