Inspired by the famous aeronautical designer Caproni, a lifelong love of flight inspires Japanese aviation engineer Jiro Horikoshi (Hideaki Anno), who joins a major Japanese engineering company in 1927 and becomes one of the world’s most innovative and accomplished airplane designers – creating the A6M World War II fighter plane, and designing the seat cushion that can be used as a flotation device in the event of a water landing.
