Three Twin Cities vocal choruses come together for a spectacular afternoon of a cappella performance! Hosted by Mixed Company Singers, a highly-experienced adult mixed-voice a cappella group, the event will showcase a variety of a cappella styles. Joining them on stage will be Minneapolis Commodores Xtreme (MCX), a male barbershop chorus that is an offshoot of the 80-year old competitive barbershop chorus the Minneapolis Commodores. Also singing will be the Red Knotes, an elite a cappella group from Benilde-St. Margaret’s High School in St. Louis Park, Minnesota.
Minneapolis Commodores Extreme (MCX) are singers who want to participate in a high energy men’s a cappella experience and produce high level performances. MCX performs a broad range of barbershop arrangements; they are an auditioned ensemble that is part of the larger Minneapolis Commodores Chorus, which has been a barbershop institution for over 80 years. They have won the Land O’ Lakes District Championships fifteen times and finished in the Top 10 at the largest barbershop competition in the world eleven times.
The Benilde-St. Margaret’s Red Knotes are a high school a cappella group that performs at many school functions, other local schools, and community events. They also participate in various competitions and contests throughout the year; most recently they finished third in the ICHSA quarterfinals. Benilde-St. Margaret's is a Catholic, co-educational college-preparatory school located in St. Louis Park, MN, and has 1,150 students in grades 7-12. From its founding until today, BSM is committed to providing every student with the best educational experience.
Based in the Twin Cities and directed by Scott Kvigne, Mixed Company Singers was founded in 2019. They are the winners of the 2024 Holidazzle A Cappella Festival. This high-energy, 24-member audition-only group sings a variety of a cappella music from classical to contemporary and is often seen performing alongside other organizations. The A Cappella Spectacular at The Parkway is a collaboration that allows each ensemble to bring its own unique style to this event.
